Rider Manual - Rider Packing List
4-day riders: Maximum 2 pieces of luggage + 1 tent
2-day riders: 1 piece of luggage
Cycling Equipment and Accessories
- Helmets are mandatory
- Road Bike (mountain bikes are not recommended)
- 2 water bottle cages mounted on bike
- 2 water bottles
- Gels and Bars for each cycling day
- A cycling repair kit mounted on rear seat post
- 2 spare tubes
- Tire levers
- Wrench (if wheel does not have quick release)
- Bike pump on CO2 cartridges and dispenser
- Multi-tool
Cycling Clothing
- Comfortable cycling shorts (1 pair per day)
- Jersey or tank tops (1 per day)
*Jersey pockets are useful for holding maps, energy bars/gels etc.
- 3-4 pairs of socks
- Gloves (short and full fingered)
- 1-2 undershirts (for cold mornings)
- Arm and knee warmers & leggings
- Long cycling pants
- Booties (light shoe covers)
- Rain jacket and rain gear
- Sunglasses
Non-Cycling Clothing
- 2 pairs of long pants
- 2 pairs of shorts
- 2-3 t-shirts and/or tank tops
- Bathing suit
- 1-2 warm sweaters or sweatshirts
- Underwear
- Socks (athletic and warm wool socks)
- Pyjamas
- Running shoes and/or sandals
- Warm jacket for cold mornings (it's always cold at 5:30 am!)
- Touque
Camping Equipment 4-day riders will require a tent to sleep in on Night 1, unless the limited option for a hotel room is selected. 2-day riders do not require a tent. Participants will sleep in cabins on Night 2 and a university residence room on Night 3. 4-day riders should prepare for cold nights and bring equipment that is proven for -5 Celcius conditions including:
- Tent
- Rain-proof fly for tent
- Inflatable mattress and pump (strongly recommended)
- Sleeping bag (proven for -5 Celsius)
- Pillow
- Flashlight
Other
- Toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, face cloths, baby wipes, toilet paper and/or Kleenex)
- Spending money. Tour for Kids clothing will be available for purchase during the Tour (credit card/cheques preferred)
- Insect repellent
- Sunscreen
- Motrin, Aspirin or other preferred pain relief medication
- Chamois butter
- Nutritional drink powder, powerbars & gels. Please ensure that you pack more than enough for each day of cycling
- Cell phone (Optional: Cycling Marshals and Organizers carry cell phones)
