Bring on the spandex, butt butter and sunshine! Let’s get ready for a fun filled weekend with 140 of your closest friends!
Looking forward to seeing you Friday, July 12th
Before you arrive at Tour for Kids, visit you mechanic & ensure your bike has undergone a tune-up. Tour for Kids is not the time to have our mechanics check your bikes. Any bike parts replaced/repaired during the Tour due to neglect will be charged to the rider. Make sure you pack your CO2, spare tubes and helmet. Every year at least one person forgets their shoes – don’t let it be you this year.
It’s what separates us from all the others. Your SWAG will not only have you walking and riding with confidence, you’ll look 10 years younger and 5lbs thinner. Your kit is available Friday morning at Rockpointe Church.
Make sure your luggage is not only packed lightly but also clearly labelled.
Since you are your own Domestique, packing light is critical, 2 smaller bags are ideal. If you’re looking for packing tips here’s a few:
- Dressing in layers is suggested, be prepared for various weather conditions
- Sleeping bag, pillow and towel for both nights
- This year’s theme at Camp Kindle is music of the decades. Come prepared with costumes and ready to play some camp games.
- Specific items that cater to your food allergies/sensitivities. There is a large assortment of food at Tour for Kids, however we do cannot meet the specific needs of food requirements/restrictions. We are nut free at Camp Kindle but everywhere else on the route we serve nuts.
- Camping at David Thompson Resort? Make sure you bring $1 for showers and don’t forget your tent
Route & Support
Volunteers are the key of Tour for Kids. Without the fine people behind the scenes working on permits, fixing your bike, photographing you, ensuring you arrive in one piece and on time, there would be no Tour for Kids. Please remember to high five the more than 50 volunteers who make this event possible! Feel free to have a drink with them, dance with them, enjoy breakfast with them and more importantly hug them! They support you, please do the same.
- HAM Radio/ARES a volunteer group providing route safety and emergency communication
- Medical support
- Bike mechanics
- Route Monitors
- Rest Stop volunteers
- Crew/truck drivers
- And more!
Please arrive at 7:00 am on Friday, July 12th at Rockpointe Church, 255024 Lochend Rd NW, Calgary AB, T3L 3R2.
Ensure you have eaten a hearty breakfast prior to arrival, we provide a continental breakfast at Rockpointe. Upon arrival, park in designated Tour for Kids area which is at the very back of the church, see volunteers for direction. Any vehicles parked in the front will be at risk for towing.
Proceed to Registration where you will be greeted and checked in. Haven’t met your fundraising goal? SWAG will not be handed out until arrangements have been made with Sharon. Proceed to luggage check in and park bikes in the designated secure bike racks according to your distance.
Arrived safely at DTR but your favourite blankie is missing and not labelled? Check concierge nightly, it’s conveniently located beside the bar.
